Synopsis
Planned Parenthood is a nonprofit organization in the United States that provides reproductive health services, including birth control, cancer screenings, and sexually transmitted infection testing. Founded in 1916 by Margaret Sanger, the organization initially focused on promoting birth control and women's reproductive rights. Over the decades, it expanded its services and became one of the largest providers of reproductive health care in the country. The organization has been a subject of political and social debate, particularly due to its stance on abortion and its funding through government programs.
