1789: Les Amants de la Bastille
Synopsis
In the spring of 1789, France is suffering from severe famine, leading to widespread unrest among the population against King Louis XVI. Ronan, a young peasant, joins the growing movement of resistance and leads a group marching to Paris, where he meets Olympe, an assistant governess to the children of Marie Antoinette of Austria. Amid the chaos of the French Revolution, the two develop a romantic relationship, encountering key revolutionary figures such as Georges Jacques Danton, Maximilien de Robespierre, and Camille Desmoulins. After being separated, Ronan and Olympe reunite on 14 July 1789 during the storming of the Bastille prison, an event that marks both the beginning of a new era and the sealing of their fates.
