2001 Ya Monogatari
Synopsis
In 2058, humanity is on the verge of its first major expansion into deep space. Utilizing the resources at the tail end of comets, massive spacecraft are launched toward distant parts of the universe with the goal of establishing colonies on other worlds. However, due to the immense travel times required to reach even the nearest solar system, the comets must be destroyed mid-flight to achieve the necessary high speeds, which would be fatal to any living beings onboard. As a result, only frozen human embryos and machines can survive the journey. The first of these ships, carrying the unborn children of the Robinson family, is set to travel to the planet Ozma, carrying with it the hopes and anxieties of the entire human race.
