A Country of Two
Synopsis
In 1991, after more than four decades of oppression and isolation, the totalitarian communist regime in Albania collapsed, leaving its people exposed to a rapidly changing world. A refugee crisis emerged, spreading across Europe, particularly affecting Germany, Italy, and Greece. Some individuals managed to build new lives, while others did not. Shpetim and Fatbardha were together during this time. They decided to walk the distance between Albania and Greece in pursuit of a future where they could live their love. Twenty-five years later, their son retraces their journey, walking the same route—but this time from Greece to Albania.
