“The countdown to annihilation has begun... And nothing on earth can stop it!”
Synopsis
Astronomers identify a comet that they believe is on a collision course with Phoenix, Arizona. They try to alert government officials, but due to the lack of 100% certainty, the governor of Arizona hesitates to issue a public warning that might cause panic. When a television news reporter uncovers the information and threatens to broadcast it live, the authorities still respond in a manner that proves insufficient, leaving some Phoenix residents exposed to the impending disaster.
