Synopsis

In *Hayseed Egghead*, the title character arrives in the bustling city of Baghdad and wins a magic lamp from a carnival crane game. A suspicious man, who had been playing the game before him, becomes envious of the lamp and attempts to steal it. Egghead discovers a poster advertising a contest hosted by the sultan to win the hand of his daughter. Believing the lamp gives him an advantage, Egghead uses it to summon a magic carpet and heads to the contest. After a few poorly received vaudeville performances, it's Egghead's turn—but in the interim, the antagonist has switched the lamp with a coffeepot. Egghead is disqualified, but later breaks in to reclaim the lamp and the princess, escaping with them. However, the princess uses the lamp to summon a more attractive suitor to replace the awkward Egghead.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 7

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
