A Run for Money

The film takes place in present‑day Istanbul and follows Selim, a shop owner in his early forties who sells men’s clothing from a back‑street location. He is devoted to his family, living with his wife Ayla, their six‑year‑old daughter Esma, and his elderly father in a modest flat within an older neighbourhood, maintaining warm relations and acting as an affectionate father. A young widow neighbor named Nihal attempts to seduce Selim, but he remains indifferent to her flirtation. Known for honesty and integrity among family and friends, Selim is a careful spender who learned early that money is not easily earned and has no tolerance for petty trickery in daily life. One day he discovers a bag containing approximately $500,000 in U.S. dollars in a taxi, after which he finds himself bewildered by the sudden possession of the large sum.
