Synopsis

John Norman Howard, a once-famous rock star now struggling with alcoholism and fading relevance, becomes infatuated with Esther Hoffman, an unknown singer, after seeing her perform at a club. He gives her the opportunity to sing a few songs during one of his own shows, which sparks industry-wide attention and propels Esther into the spotlight. As her career begins to take off, John's continues to decline. Esther makes repeated attempts to help John overcome his addiction and refocus on his music, but it may already be too late to rescue his career.
