Synopsis
Inez, a woman struggling but determined to live on her own terms, moves from shelter to shelter in New York City during the mid-1990s. After her 6-year-old son, Terry, is placed in foster care, she decides to kidnap him in order to raise him herself. As the years pass, their makeshift family expands, and Terry grows into a quiet yet intelligent teenager. However, the secret at the heart of their lives looms over them, threatening to unravel the fragile home they have built.
