Synopsis
The intention behind *A través de las ruinas*, created during the Falklands War (April–May 1982), was to film without using the viewfinder, in order to emulate a tactile, subconscious vision. The camera functions as a vacillating gaze, moving through darkness or being blinded by flickering light. It begins by delving into the sea and later conveys the experience of aerial bombardments through the movement of urban lights. Silhouettes of human figures appear, but they never manage to connect with one another. The film captures scarcely lit spaces, shot on the "threshold or exposure," portraying a wintry, generalized interaction of spaces, distances, and dynamics. It presents a continual present composed of intuitions and imprecise memories.
