A Year Along the Abandoned Road
Synopsis
A 12-minute short film portrays the deserted fisherman's village of Børfjord in Northern Norway—a place with a distinct character set against the backdrop of the Arctic's stunning natural environment. Filmed in 70mm Super Panavision, the film employs a specially developed "nature animation" technique. The result is a magical single-shot journey along the remains of an internal village road, while a full year passes at 50,000 times normal speed. For most of the year, Børfjord remains empty, with untouched snow covering its cold, quiet houses. People appear only briefly during the busy summer season, while the natural cycles continue unchanged, independent of human presence.
