Synopsis

M.C. Escher, born Maurits Cornelis Escher on March 17, 1898, in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, was a Dutch graphic artist renowned for his mathematically inspired works. His art is characterized by intricate tessellations, impossible constructions, explorations of infinity, and optical illusions. Escher's work often features interlocking patterns of animals, birds, and other figures that seamlessly fill a plane without gaps or overlaps. He also created works that challenge perceptions of space and perspective, such as *Relativity* and *Ascending and Descending*. Escher's early career included architectural and landscape drawings, but he gradually shifted focus to more abstract and mathematical themes. His works are now held in major collections around the world, and his influence extends beyond the visual arts into mathematics, science, and popular culture. Escher died on March 27, 1972, in Laren, Netherlands.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 5

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
