Synopsis
*American RefleXXX* is a short film that documents a social experiment conducted in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Filmmaker Alli Coates captured performance artist Signe Pierce as she walked down a busy oceanside street wearing stripper attire and a reflective mask. Coates and Pierce agreed not to communicate until the experiment was complete, but they did not anticipate the events that would unfold within an hour. The resulting film is a vivid, technicolor presentation that explores themes of gender stereotypes, mob mentality, and violence in America.
