Synopsis

A series of brutal murders shatters the sense of security in the Amish farming community of Painter’s Mill, Ohio, leaving the town with a profound sense of frailty and loss of innocence. Among those most deeply affected is Kate Burkholder, a young girl who survives the trauma and ultimately leaves the Amish way of life behind. Fifteen years later, she returns to Painter’s Mill as its Chief of Police. Believing she has come to terms with her past, Kate’s return is upended when a new murder investigation stirs up buried emotions from her childhood and uncovers a dark secret that threatens to destroy her.
