An Unlikely Alliance
Synopsis
Following the sudden death of President Georges Pompidou, the French right finds itself unprepared. The question of who will succeed him remains uncertain until Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, at 48 years old, is elected with the backing of Jacques Chirac, who is subsequently named Prime Minister. Though their partnership initially appears solid, it soon begins to show signs of strain.
