Synopsis
For more than 150 years, scientists have sought fossil remains of the so-called "missing link" in human evolution—the hypothetical transitional form between apes and humans. Over time, the concept of what constitutes a missing link has itself evolved. This documentary explores the history of the scientific search, highlighting figures ranging from passionate amateurs to seasoned professionals, as well as those who were either fortunate or unfortunate in their pursuits. Reenactments illustrate key discoveries and extend back hundreds of thousands to millions of years, portraying the lives of early human and human-like ancestors. The film also features interviews with leading scientists who provide further insight into the subject.
