Synopsis
This is a subtle adaptation of a classical story by one of Brazil's greatest writers, Machado de Assis. The story is set in 19th-century Rio de Janeiro. The adolescent Inácio lives in the Borges household and works as an apprentice. His monotonous and lonely routine is interrupted when he glimpses the bare arms of his employer's wife. Upon realizing she desires him, he begins to treat her with affection. A silent and forbidden romance is told with tenderness and poetic nuance.
