Synopsis
This film portrays Jean-Pierre Bacri as a man who was never particularly happy, but it goes beyond the caricature of the perpetually grumpy individual. From his early apprenticeship years until his death in January 2021, it traces the life of this quintessential Frenchman: a man oriented towards others, an actor by chance, a moralist by calling, who remained indifferent to flattery and false honors, and ready to express anger when it came to injustice and stupidity. The film details the various turning points in his life: moving from Algeria to France at the age of eleven in 1962; transitioning from bank clerk to theater apprentice; evolving from a Pieds-noirs film star to screenwriter for Alain Resnais; and transforming from a Cannes playboy into Agnès Jaoui's eccentric lover, a relationship that proved to be the most significant in both his personal life and his professional career.
