Synopsis
Phoolan Devi, a lower-caste girl born in rural India, was "married" at the age of 11 and subjected to repeated rape and abuse. Seeking justice and freedom, she eventually becomes a bandit, taking on the role of an avenging warrior known as the Bandit Queen. The film portrays her as a figure akin to a Robin Hood, offering both a depiction of a determined woman and a critique of the patriarchal society that contributed to her path.
