Behind Blue Skies
Synopsis
In 1975, teenager Martin seeks to escape a restrictive home dominated by his alcoholic father and long‑suffering mother. After his friend Micke proposes that they take waiter jobs at a resort on the Swedish coast, Martin agrees, but Micke soon abandons the plan, leaving Martin alone. The attractive fellow server Jenny provides some comfort, and Martin unexpectedly becomes the protégé of Gösta, the resort’s short‑tempered manager. Gösta favors Martin and appoints him as his right‑hand man, exposing Martin to the darker aspects of life when he learns that Gösta is involved in several additional business ventures, some of which are illegal or unethical.
