Between the Tides
Synopsis
*Between the Tides* is a 1958 short documentary directed by Ralph Keene for British Transport Films. It explores the animal and plant life of Britain's shores, focusing on the marine life found in shoreline and rock pools within the inter-tidal zone of a typical rocky shore in southwest England. The film showcases the diversity of creatures in this environment, including periwinkles, top-shells, starfish, lump suckers, flatfish, gapers, razor fish, and seabirds engaged in commuting and breeding. The film was shot in Technicolor by resident cameraman Ron Craigen and received fifteen international film awards. It was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film.
