Synopsis
American corporations are using the North American Free Trade Agreement to open large maquiladoras directly across the United States–Mexico border, employing primarily Mexican women who work long hours for low wages to produce high‑volume goods. Lauren Adrian, an impassioned American news reporter for the Chicago Sentinel who wishes to be assigned to the Iraq front lines, is instead given by her editor George Morgan the task of investigating a series of murders involving young maquiladora factory women in a Mexican border town.
