Synopsis

Marlon Brando was an American actor who profoundly influenced the art of acting, particularly through his pioneering use of the Stanislavski method. Born on April 3, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska, Brando rose to prominence in the 1940s with his groundbreaking performances on stage, most notably in *A Streetcar Named Desire* (1947), where he portrayed Stanley Kowalski. His realistic, emotionally intense style marked a departure from the more stylized acting of the time and set a new standard for American theater and film. Brando's film career included iconic roles such as Vito Corleone in *The Godfather* (1972), for which he won an Academy Award, and Colonel Kurtz in *Apocalypse Now* (1979). His influence extended beyond his performances, as he became a symbol of method acting and inspired generations of actors to adopt more introspective and psychological approaches to their craft. Brando passed away on July 1, 2004, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France, leaving behind a legacy that continues to shape the world of acting.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 23

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
