Synopsis
Dimitrie Osmanli’s short fiction debut presents a playful and symbolic portrayal of childhood spirit. The film follows a young girl and her doll who encounter a neighborhood boy and his toy tank. When the doll is damaged, the narrative transitions into a surreal dream in which the dolls rebel against the boy, their faces mirroring the girl he hurt. This rebellion symbolizes a stand against the boy’s malice and his resistance to embracing childlike qualities. The dream culminates in a transformation: upon waking, the boy, now grateful to be alive, regains his joy and seeks reconciliation with the girl. *The Rebellion of the Dolls* interprets rebellion as an internal event—an uprising of conscience against cruelty and disobedience. Through this, the film conveys a lesson to the boy, restoring true conscience through the spirit of gentleness.
