Synopsis
In 1936, Russia, Colonel Kotov, a revolutionary hero, enjoys a peaceful summer at his dacha with his young wife, their six-year-old daughter Nadia, and various family members and friends. The tranquility is disrupted by the sudden arrival of Cousin Dmitri from Moscow, who wins over the women and especially Nadia with his playful nature and piano skills. However, Kotov remains wary—this is the era of Stalin's repression, marked by ominous late-night phone calls—and he suspects that Dmitri's visit is not purely social.
