Synopsis
A fisherman's son is given the opportunity to study at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, a leading institution of Sunni Islam. Soon after his arrival, the Grand Imam, the university's highest religious authority, dies, and the young student becomes entangled in a fierce power struggle among Egypt's religious and political leaders.
