Synopsis
Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, was a controversial artist whose life was marked by turbulence and adventure. Defying the idealized vision of the world upheld by Renaissance painters, he became known for his provocative style. His works often featured outcast figures such as drunkards, vagrants, and prostitutes, which scandalized patrons and institutions alike.
