Synopsis

In 1947, a widow named Harriet and her children, Carrie and Brian, live in rural New York, still adjusting to the loss of Harriet's husband, who died in World War II. Carrie, a tomboy, spends time with boys and has built a clubhouse with them. She and her friends often play pranks, including stealing one of the puppies from their mentally challenged neighbor, Charlie. Harriet begins a courtship with a man named Bernard, but Carrie is upset by her mother's new relationship and wants it to end. Carrie's growing anger and jealousy lead to more destructive behavior, including ruining Mr. Grizzle's garden and sabotaging his tractor by pouring sugar into it. As a result, Grizzle takes Charlie's remaining puppies. Later, Grizzle's barn is destroyed by fire. Eventually, Carrie realizes she must mature and apologize to her mother and neighbors for the pain and trouble she has caused.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 20

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
