In the small college town of Silvercreek, Pennsylvania, a series of violent deaths has sparked speculation that an otherworldly force is punishing those who commit infidelity. Initially dismissed as an urban legend, the killings gain credibility as the town's already high suicide rate raises concerns among both residents and students. When Maeve, a college student staying with a local host family, engages in a relationship with Charlie, the married man of the household, they both begin to fear they have drawn the attention of a deadly curse. Struggling to convince others of the danger, Maeve and Charlie turn to a local history student in hopes of uncovering the truth and finding a way to protect themselves. As the supernatural entity continues to claim victims at an alarming rate, Maeve, Charlie, and a small group of survivors unite in a desperate attempt to confront and defeat the creature.
