Synopsis

In the cartoon, Daffy Duck takes on the identity of China Jones, an Irish private investigator driven by the pursuit of fortune and operating in the Far East. He receives a mysterious call for help inside a Chinese fortune cookie and decides to look into the matter. Following a clue displayed on a solo musician's drum, Daffy/Jones visits a bar owned by Limey Louie in search of answers. Unbeknownst to him, Louie is a former convict who holds a grudge against Jones for having sent him to prison. To get back at him, Louie disguises himself as a grieving widow and orchestrates a series of misfortunes for the duck detective. Porky Pig also appears in the cartoon as Charlie Chung, a plain-clothes Chinese detective.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 6

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
