Chip of the Flying U

Released: November 29, 1939Runtime: 55 min

DramaWestern

*Chip of the Flying U* was Johnny Mack Brown's first western entry for 1940. Brown plays the title role of Chip Bennett, foreman of the Flying U ranch. By the time the second reel has ended, Chip is falsely accused of robbery and murder. The real culprits are working for a group of foreign gunrunners, who speak with heavily Teutonic accents. Chip quickly defeats these amateurish Storm Troopers before sunset in the West. Musical interludes are performed by a group that calls itself the Texas Rangers, although they are actually from Kansas City.
