Citizen X
Synopsis
This film is based on the true story of a Russian serial killer who, over the course of many years, murdered more than 50 people. The majority of his victims were under the age of 17. In the then-communist state, police investigations into the killings were hindered by bureaucratic delays, institutional incompetence, and interference from those in positions of authority. The narrative is presented from the perspective of the detective assigned to lead the investigation.
