Code-Breakers: Bletchley Park's Lost Heroes
Synopsis
This documentary explores the contributions of unsung heroes of World War II. In 1943, a 24-year-old mathematics student and a GPO engineer collaborated to crack Hitler's personal encryption system—a more complex device than Enigma, which he referred to as his "secrets writer." Their breakthrough influenced the outcome of the Battle of Kursk, supported the D-Day landings, and played a role in ending the war in Europe. However, because the same techniques were later used during the Cold War, the men's contributions were kept classified and never officially acknowledged.
