Così fan tutte

In *Così fan tutte*, Mozart and Da Ponte's sharply comic yet emotionally complex opera, the question of who truly loves whom remains central. The main characters, subjected to a series of deceptions and trials of fidelity, create a world of confusion where heartfelt duets and the opera's fast-paced comedy may no longer hold meaning, replaced instead by a sense of emotional weariness and the erosion of genuine feelings. The opera raises enduring questions about love, trust, and human behavior. Academy Award-winning director Michael Haneke, known for his precise and unflinching approach to reality, once stated that he aimed to reflect it without distortion. In his second opera production, following his 2006 staging of *Don Giovanni*, Haneke offered what ARTE described as a "disillusioned vision of love" presented in an "ice-cold, realistic interpretation."
