Synopsis

Marianne Riblon owns a small construction company in southern France. A widow, she has been separated from her daughter, Charlotte, for 15 years and lives a solitary life focused on work. An active participant in local politics, Marianne holds conservative and racist views. When Charlotte calls to inform her that she is a grandmother, Marianne learns that her 12-year-old grandson, Nicolas, is coming to visit. Charlotte asks Marianne to care for Nicolas while she undergoes treatment for leukemia. Upon meeting the boy at the train station, Marianne is surprised to discover that Nicolas is of mixed race. The two begin to get to know each other.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 20

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
