Couples and Robbers
Synopsis
Couples and Robbers is a 1981 English-language comedy/crime film written and directed by Clare Peploe, starring Frances Low, Rik Mayall, and Peter Eyre. The story follows two couples—one affluent and one impoverished—who become entangled through the schemes of the poorer pair. A newlywed couple, frustrated by their financial struggles, encounters the luxurious home of a lawyer while wandering the city. On a whim, they steal the lawyer’s car for a night of reckless enjoyment. The film was nominated for an Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film.
