Synopsis

It's ice skating time. After a few generic ice-skating gags, the main story begins when an animal falls through the ice. A pig performing in the style of W.C. Fields, named W.C. Squeals, calls for help from a Saint Bernard dog. The dog offers a drink, prompting Squeals to plot how to obtain one for himself. First, he attempts to fake his own fall through the ice, but the dog sees through the ruse and drinks it himself. Squeals then tries using a dish of bones and a magnet, but the magnet slips through the ice and becomes stuck around a fish. The fish swims through a liquor spill from the dog's casket, becomes intoxicated, grabs an ax, and, circling, dunks another skater. The fish then attaches to Squeals' skates and pulls him into an ice-skating contest, where the fish's antics earn Squeals first prize. Squeals fills the loving cup from the dog's cask, and the fish swims off with it.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 7

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
