Synopsis
In 1981, a film depicting the misadventures of a German U-boat crew in 1941 becomes a worldwide hit nearly four decades after the end of World War II. Millions of viewers around the world make *Das Boot* the most internationally successful German film in history. However, due to disputes over the script, accidents on the set, and accusations from critics who claimed the film glorified war, the project was repeatedly on the verge of being cancelled.
