Das Wunder von Kapstadt
Synopsis
The true story of an operation that marked a revolution, not only in the field of medicine, takes place in Frankfurt in 1967. Lisa Scheel, a young doctor, is striving to establish herself in the male-dominated field of transplant surgery. After being overlooked by her main professor in favor of a male candidate, she impulsively decides to travel to Cape Town. There, she begins working for Dr. Barnaard, who, like his colleagues in Frankfurt, is preparing for a heart transplant. Alongside surgeon Hamilton Naki, who can only join the team in secret due to apartheid, Lisa plays a key role in performing the first heart transplant in history.
