Day of the Falcon

In the 1930s on the Arabian Peninsula, two rival leaders, Nesib, Emir of Hobeika, and Amar, Sultan of Salmaah, confront each other after a conflict. Nesib, having emerged victorious, presents peace terms to Amar. The two agree that neither will claim the neutral territory between them known as The Yellow Belt. As a gesture of trust, Nesib adopts Amar’s two sons, Saleeh and Auda. Twelve years later, the boys have grown into young men with differing aspirations. Saleeh, eager for adventure, longs to return to his father’s homeland, while Auda is more interested in books and intellectual pursuits. One day, Nesib is visited by an American from Texas, who informs him that his land contains oil and promises great wealth. Inspired by the potential, Nesib envisions a modern kingdom with infrastructure funded by the oil beneath the desert. However, the oil is located precisely in the contested Yellow Belt.
