Der Meineidbauer
Synopsis
Wealthy farmer Karl Bruckner and his fiancée Anna are on the verge of marriage when Karl dies in a car accident. As Anna's world crumbles, Franz, Karl's stepbrother, seizes the opportunity to take control of the family farm. He allows Karl's will—naming Anna as a beneficiary—to go missing and falsely testifies that no such document ever existed. Anna is driven from the property and forced to leave the village with her young daughter. Years later, she returns to uncover the truth. Based on Ludwig Anzengruber's famous folk play, the story unfolds as a gripping drama.
