Der Uranberg
Synopsis
In 1947, the Russians extract uranium from the newly established SAG Wismut mine in the Ore Mountains. Among the miners is Kurt, who has become an enthusiastic communist during his time as a prisoner of war in Russia and consequently harbors resentment toward his father, a committed Nazi. Kurt falls in love with Lydia, the daughter of Soviet Major Burski, who was originally sent to spy on him but soon reciprocates his feelings. However, their relationship faces challenges, as a mining accident is imminent.
