Synopsis
In 1961, Alexander Ivanov, a high-ranking Soviet official, defects to the West during a diplomatic mission, reluctantly leaving his wife, Katya, behind in Moscow and enduring the emotional burden of uncertainty about her fate. Decades later, in 1991, the truth is finally revealed to him when his niece, Lauren, travels to Moscow to take part in a painting exhibition.
