Dichter op de Zeedijk
Synopsis
Constant Wegman (Benja Bruijning) is a 14-year-old boy raised by his grandmother, Carry Tefsen, in Zeedijk, Amsterdam. She owns a cafe-hotel called "De Rode Laars" ("The Red Boots"). Constant, who dreams beyond his surroundings filled with drunkards, gamblers, and fighters, escapes by writing poetry. His grandmother hopes he will take over the cafe, but Constant secretly enters a national poetry competition, giving rise to a new Vondel.
