Die Leopardin

Leopards are known for being highly elusive big cats. Few animals rival their grace as feline predators. These cautious hunters are seldom seen in the wild for more than a brief moment. They are more easily observed when resting in trees, recovering from their primarily nocturnal hunting activities. However, a leopardess has begun to hunt during daylight hours. Her territory along the brook bed of the Olare Orok provides all the essentials a mother needs to safeguard and feed her cubs: scenic rocks and thick bush, a terrain where the big cat can vanish in an instant to approach potential prey, such as warthogs and antelopes. Yet hyenas and lions are constant threats to her territory and food sources. The experienced wildlife filmmaker Reinhard Radke succeeded in documenting remarkable insights into the social behavior and hunting strategies of these ambush predators in the Maasai Mara.
