Doublecrossed

Based on a true story, this made-for-cable film follows Barry Seal, a pilot who became a drug smuggler for Colombia's Medellin cartel. He was arrested by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and subsequently cooperated with the agency to help dismantle the cartel. However, he became entangled in the Reagan and Bush administrations' efforts during the 1980s to support the Nicaraguan rebels known as the "contras," a campaign that involved allowing the smuggling of cocaine into the U.S. in exchange for their opposition to the leftist Nicaraguan government. Seal was eventually killed by his former associates in the Medellin cartel, and some critics have suggested that his death may have occurred with the tacit, if not direct, approval of the U.S. administration.
