Synopsis
The story centers on Daisy Werthan, an elderly Jewish widow, and her relationship with Hoke, her African American chauffeur. What begins as a professional arrangement gradually develops over 25 years into a deep and meaningful friendship between the two very different individuals. Their bond forms during a period in which such relationships were widely discouraged and often socially unacceptable.
