Synopsis
*Children Who Draw* examines the subtle dynamics among schoolchildren in an art class by continuously contrasting observational black-and-white portraits of the children with colorful, lyrical sequences that depict their imaginative and expressive paintings. Using color as a means to convey the children's inner worlds and as a method for deeper psychological exploration, Hani lets his camera move freely over the drawings, "de-framing" and engaging with the artwork in a style reminiscent of Alain Resnais.
