Synopsis
Heidemarie reveals to her husband on her deathbed that one of their three children is the result of an affair. Ulrich, a recently retired airline captain with a history of romantic escapades, is left to grapple with the revelation. Joined by the memory of his late wife, whom he affectionately called "Heide-Maus," and his dog Specki, the Berlin widower travels from Hamburg via Hanover to Kassel to gather genetic samples from his adult children. He discovers that the marriages of his daughter Bettina and son Christian are in trouble. Only Jessica, the fiancée of Ulrich's impulsive son Thomas, appears genuinely pleased by his visit.
