El elefante del rey
Synopsis
In the summer of 1923 in North Sudan, King Alfonso XIII of Spain captured a large African elephant. This seemingly minor event would later prove significant in understanding Spain during the 20th century. The elephant, an animal from distant lands, became a symbol of the Second Spanish Republic and the communist movement, among other things. The royal hunt marked the beginning of a strange tale involving jealousy, passion, political maneuvering, and taxidermy.
